Newer machines, different problems
An area that has grown recently has newer printers, and newer printers fail differently. Mechanical wear is rarely the issue. Setup, connectivity and consumables are.
- Wireless setup. Almost everything ships wireless now, and almost every wireless printer expects 2.4GHz while modern routers push 5GHz. That mismatch is behind a large share of "it will not connect" calls — see Wi-Fi problems.
- Chips and cartridges. Newer machines are stricter about cartridge recognition, so refilling needs the chip handled properly rather than ignored.
- Tank printers. Increasingly common, and excellent for volume — but they need the right ink and occasional maintenance, and the waste pad counter eventually needs dealing with.
Distance, honestly
